African medium wave: SRTC Al-Barnameg al-Aam, the state broadcaster from Sudan can also be heard in Salzburg via the Khartoum/Soba station at about 18.15 UT on 765 kHz. Caution, Saudi Arabia also broadcasts in Arabic here.
A visible note for outdoor antenna users: Use CMCCs! These Common-mode current choke are absolutely worth their money, especially with longer coax feed lines in receive mode. As an example here is a screen of the Solomon Islands on 5020 kHz at my Asia Beverage, to see and hear the signal from the Pacific Ocean only with S3/S5, but the noise floor below (!) – 140 dBm makes listening possible. I use CMCCs from remoteqth.com and Bonito.
Southeast Asia! Myanma Radio from Naypyidaw confirmed today the mediumwave reception of the broadcast on 594 kHz with his QSL card. After many attempts in autumn last year, I was able to listen to the local morning broadcast from the “Republic of the Union of Myanmar” in mid-October around 23.25 UT here in Salzburg. Very happy about that QSL.
In November I was able to hear a new US state in the mediumwave band with my Beverage Array, which is very rare in central Europe: KRND – Jota Mexicana from Cheyenne in Wyoming could be heard on the X-Band frequency 1630 kHz at 05:00 UT with Mexican music and several station announcements in Salzburg. After many attempts I managed to get an answer from the station and thus to have confirmed my 40th US state on mediumwave.
Dhivehi Rajjeyge Adu – from the Maldives, the programme from the tropical country in the Indian Ocean, which has been broadcast for a few weeks on 1,449 kHz via a new mediumwave transmitter, was kindly confirmed to me by the project manager. Reception is most likely to be successful at 0028 UT and for the national anthem at 0100 UT, is anything but easy due to strong transmitters from the BBC and Saudi Arabia. The Maldives are now my 201th confirmed BC broadcasting country (according to EDXC list), the first new country in three years.

In December I was able to identify a rare station together with the DXer Patrick Robic: Emisora Prov. de Cabo Delgado, Pemba from Mozambique could be heard with the national anthem on mediumwave 1224 kHz at 22.00 UT at the end of transmission. The question about an answer from the country so badly hit by storms last year is unnecessary.
